For the reference of anyone else whose comments have been not sending for the last week or so, since I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one in CFUD who has had that problem:

I just figured out that I could get around it by setting up all my characters to also get comment notifications via IM, and setting up an IM client specifically for that. You can get the link for instructions on how to do that here, and the comment settings are here. I set it up on Adium on a Mac, though I imagine there's plenty of clients you could use on Windows.

The downsides are:
It takes a bit of time to set up (I think it took me fifteen for all three journals.)
You don't get as much context, just the fact of the comment and the link, rather than your last reply and their reply included and multiple options for replying. So I imagine it would be harder to thread with more than one journal at a time.
It just feels awkward when you're getting used to it.

The upsides are:

It actually works! And you have no idea how hard it was not to complete that with a long and obscenity ridden rant about LJ. Oh LJ.

Hopefully it helps! I should warn that I'm not getting all my comment notifications still, but at least I'm getting most of them this way.
